TIPS & Retirement Topics Dominate AP’s Top Views in October
The most-read stories in October for Advisor Perspectives were mainly focused on two key topics: retirement and TIPS. The list includes pieces by some of the site’s most popular writers.
Allan Roth of WealthLogic wrote the top story for October, “4 Practical Uses of TIPS in the Portfolio.” In it, he takes a look at why TIPS are an attractive investment right now and how advisors can deploy them in client portfolios.
The second-most-read article of the month, “When Should Clients Take Their RMDs? We May Be Optimizing the Wrong Thing,” by Lucent Wealth Planning founder Jean-Luc Bourdon, discusses how advisors should time clients’ required minimum distributions in a given year. Waiting until as late as possible in the year doesn’t necessarily make sense, he explains.
“Have Stocks Reached a Permanently High Plateau?” by Edward F. McQuarrie and William J. Bernstein claimed the No. 3 spot in the rankings. It discusses the unknowable nature of bubbles from a historical perspective. The authors also wrote the top article for August, “Long TIPS Yield 3%. Time to Buy?” So far, it’s the most-read contributed article on Advisor Perspectives for all of 2026.
Advisor Perspectives newcomer Stephanie Stumpf, of WealthCrossing, wrote the fourth-most-read article, “Mega Backdoor Roth for High Earners: A Playbook for Your Clients.” The piece outlines a popular retirement strategy for high earners typically shut out of traditional Roth IRAs.
Finally, Nathan Dutzmann of Round Table Investment Strategies rounds out the top five articles for October with “TIPS Yields at 3% Are Awesome! But Fundamental Principles Don’t Change.” It was written in response to the previously mentioned top article for August.
